Vijayawada: The World Economic Forum has invited Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to participate in its 47th meeting to be held from January 17 to 20, 2017 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland. This is the third consecutive time Naidu is receiving a special invitation after he took charge as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. In the WEF invitation, Philipp Rosler, Member of the WEF Managing Board, thanked the Chief Minister for his engagement with WEF over the years, and that he looks forward to his contribution in the upcoming event as well. The invitation was handed over to J Krishna Kishore, Chief Executive Officer, Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, who had been to Geneva for an official tour a few days ago. The Chief Minister has a longstanding relationship with the WEF and year after year, he had been participating in its meetings as the Chief Minister of the united State of Andhra Pradesh and also as leader of the Opposition. In recognition of the prevailing discontent in societies which are not experiencing growth and development, the Forum has chosen to focus on ‘Responsive and Responsible Leadership’ in its 2017 deliberations to highlight deeper commitment needed for an inclusive and sustainable growth. The meeting aims at making the world leaders credible and responsible to the societal and global concerns which have been neglected for a long time. Andhra Pradesh is the only State to be ranked at 51, in the global competitiveness index of the WEF, where India’s rank is 56. The State was also declared No 1 in India in energy efficiency as declared by the World Bank. The Chief Minister and the delegation would reach Zurich a day earlier to attend bilateral meetings being proposed by Swiss India Chambers and the local government at Zurich and thereafter proceed to Davos.
