IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao meets Microsoft CEO

Minister for Information Technology K.T. Rama Rao called on Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella as part of his ongoing tour to the US on Monday.

He briefed the Microsoft chief about the new industrial policy of the State and the single-window clearance system envisaged for new industries. He also explained the T-Hub and TASK initiatives of the State to encourage incubators and research and innovation in the IT field and making the students employable even as they pursue academics.

Areas in which Microsoft and Telangana Government could collaborate also figured in the meeting.

The Minister presented a ‘bidriware’ Charminar replica to Mr. Satya Nadella.

Telangana IT Secretary Jayesh Ranjan and general manager (government & industry) of Microsoft, Mark Day, were present at the meeting.

Visits Amazon campus

Later, Mr. Rama Rao and the IT Department delegation visited the campus of Amazon at Seattle and met its vice-president (Public Policy) Monique Meche, and director (workplaces-global) John Schoettler. The Amazon executives complimented the proactive approach of Telangana Government to encourage the industry.

The Amazon executives assured the Telangana delegation that Amazon would continue to partner with the State Government on various initiatives in future.

The Minister also met executive vice-president and chief of staff of the Seattle Chamber of Commerce, Eric Schinfeld. Earlier in the day, diaspora of industry organised a meet and greet programme in Seattle with Mr. Rama Rao at the Bellevue Library.

Mr. Rama Rao appraised the gathering about various flagship initiatives undertaken by the Telangana Government during the last one year.

He informed the audience that the State Government is giving utmost priority to ensure that basic issues like drinking water, irrigation, power, education and healthcare are addressed in the initial years. He asked the NRIs to be the goodwill ambassadors for the State Government in the US.
