Kejriwal falls ill on way to movie screening, film to be tax free basis Sisodia’s feedback

Few political bigwigs have the inclination or energy to be such avid movie watchers as Delhi’s CM Arvind Kejriwal. On Thursday, it was the turn of ‘Gandhigiri’, and Kejriwal was headed to a special screening at the Films Division. The chief minister also wanted his ministers to watch the film. However, he ended up missing the screening as he felt unwell on his way. The news of Kejriwal giving a movie screening a miss was received with surprise by the packed house, as the CM has never missed a special screening in the last two years. It also ended up fuelling speculation and discussion about Kejriwal’s health. Somnath Bharti with actor Anupam Shyam at the screening (BCCL) Sudhir Jain, the producer of the film, told us, “We have organised this special screening for the CM because of his affinity for films. But unfortunately, while the CM was coming to the venue, he felt dizzy and started throwing up, so he had to leave midway.” He added, “Kejriwal will announce the film tax-free because it is a movie based on Gandhi’s principles.” When we asked if that would happen even though Kejriwal hadn’t watched the film, when so far movies have been declared tax free after the chief minister has watched them, he replied, “CM ne nahi par Sisodia ji ne dekhi hai, Kejriwal ji ke liye doosri screening phir rakh lenge.”
